You made me think. I don't like romance anything...books, movies, or otherwise. Liuke you, I like books that teach me something...well written and with a message. I like thrillers and psychological thrillers (is what I write).
I dont really know much about the reading culture recently, but there was this one time I tried to write a horror story on Inkitt. I just realized that the most popular niche on the platform was Wolfpack/Alpha wolf/Lone wolf romantica kind of stuff. Like they have a huge obsession over the alpha in a pack howling and abusing the female protagonist as a sign of love :D it's like twilight ripping off but not really there.
As a Twilight fan, even Twilight was weird but it was ahead of it's time for being weird. The new stuff is just poorly written and getting passed off as good fiction. It's frustrating lol
